I gave this one to Terry for Christmas. Filigree is fun stuff, but … the lines!!!
This had been finished about a week ago, but I’m finding myself with very little time to get on tumblr. I basically have to wait for my days off to have anything that resembles free time.
The black spider mum isn’t practical for a tattoo, but it was great for practicing hand control…bordering on torture.
And now for something completely different…
I finally took a much needed break to get some practice in. This is way out of my norm, but that’s what makes it fun and challenging to do. It’s obviously heavily influenced by traditional Maori tattoos, which I know next to nothing about. I’d really love to learn more.
If you’ve been following me for awhile, this may look familiar. I tried a different look for the rose, and I like the way it turned out.
As always, this is India Ink with a brush.
This was a bit overdue for posting. I hope you enjoy it!
This will be awesome with color and shading. Red roses, of course. <3
Done with India ink and a single 6/0 brush.
Here she is! I am very happy with the way the upper body/hair turned out. Among the more notable changes I made is the addition of the flowers in her hair. I felt the Oleander blooms fit in nicely with the “beautiful and deadly” theme.
I’ve got about 3/4 of the scales to go before she’s complete…again. I’ve decided to leave her as line art until I can get some markers for coloring. The diluted ink was causing the paper to buckle more than I’d like, so I’m going to skip it.
